Deb Christie crowned SA Women’s Country Champion

Deb Christie – Women&aposs Country Champion Played at Tea Tree Gully and The Grange Golf Clubs (15-17 Oct), Deb Christie has once again claimed the Women’s Country Championship in a dominant display. With rounds of 82 and 89 (171), Christie a 2 handicapper from the Lameroo Golf Club, finished 23 strokes ahead of runner up Jill Barr from Pinnaroo. Other event winners were: Jill Hodge from Glenelg Golf Club who won the SA Champion of Champions event by just one shot over Cecilia Douglas with scores of 80, 85 (165). Hodge who was competing in the Metropolitan Division carded the low 36 score of the tournament. Ethel Wyatt Memorial Bowl Winner awarded for lowest nett aggregate score in relation to the AWCR went to Cecilia Douglas 148. Winner of the Country Handicap Foursomes played at the Mount Osmond Golf Club were Echunga pair, Wendy Jackson & Janeen Coleman Nett 77.5 ahead of Runner-Up Sharon Menz & Isobel Carracher, Nett 78. Metropolitan Handicap Foursomes Champions were Jenny Butcher & Penny Mathews (Mt Osmond) with a Nett 69.5 ahead of Runner-Up Kim Murdoch & Mieun Jin 70. Reva Cullen from Waikerie took out the Country Veteran Championship. The Lameroo team of Di Traeger, Deb Christie and Di Frank claimed the Britten Jones Cup with a score of 251. And The Grange Golf Club team of Marg Smibert, Libby Broomhead, Sharion Thompson and Louise Dearing, won the Hon Lady Hore Ruthven Cup with a score of 317 (lowest total of the four Rd 2 Nett Scores).
