Peter and Marie Moule are back behind the controls of a shiny red ride-on mower and happily cutting the fairways again at Deepwater golf course after the Club applied to the NSW Golf Foundation for assistance to purchase a second-hand mower from their big Buddy Club, Coffs Harbour.
The tiny New England District club, with a membership of only 18 people was left high and dry after their previous mower purchase only lasted 23 hours.
“Without this assistance we would have seriously depleted our club’s contingency fund that has taken many years to accumulate,” Brian Lanz, Deepwater Golf Club President explained.
“While we did contribute towards the cost, it still leaves the club in a reasonably secure financial position.”
“We would like to thank the NSW Golf Foundation for their generosity in providing a grant towards the purchase of the second hand ride-on mower from our ‘buddy club’ Coffs Harbour Golf Club. Without this assistance we would have found it very difficult to purchase this major piece of machinery.”
“We would also like to thank Golf NSW for setting up the ‘Buddy Club system’ so small clubs like ours are able to link up with major golf clubs like Coffs Harbour Golf Club. We would also like to thank the President, Committee and Members of Coffs Harbour Golf Club for providing our club with this opportunity,” Mr Lanz said.
