Tasmania s Ashlee Dewhurst leads the Rene Erichsen Salver Tasmania s Ashlee Dewhurst has captured the outright lead in the Rene Erichsen Salver after a solid second round score of 74. Dewhurst who withdrew from last year s event during the first round due to a shoulder injury, finished the day with two birdies and four bogeys for a 36 hole total of 148. Overnight leader Breanna Elliott with a round of 76 is in a tie for second place on 149 with Whitney Hillier after the Western Australian carded a 3 over par 75. South Australia s leading player Ebony Heard stormed into contention after a 1 over par 73. Heard the defending Champion, sits three shots behind Dewhurst in striking distance. The Women’s low round of the day was a 71 posted by Ashlee Ona from the Gailes GC. Twenty four women have progressed to the weekends rounds. Dimitrios Papadatos remains the leader of the Golf SA Amateur Classic by one stroke after 36 holes after carding a 2 over round of 73. Starting from the 10th tee Papadatos was even after nine holes, then came home with 5 pars, 1 birdie and 3 bogeys. His 36 hole total of 140 puts him 2-under for the tournament. Tasmanian Representative Ryan McCarthy from Seabrook had the low score of the day firing a 4 under round of 67. After a round one score of 74 McCarthy sits one off the lead storming back into contention with 6 birdies for the day. Grange s Chris Brown shares second place with McCarthy, after an even par round of 71. After a shaky start with 3 bogeys on the front 9, Brown found his rhythm with 3 under on Glenelg s challenging back 9. The highlight of the men’s round was Blackwood local Andrew Humphries, who scored a hole in one on the Par 3 16th. With the cut set at 158, 62 players will progress to the final two rounds.
