Dewhurst looking good for the US Amateur

Royal Hobart Golf Club’s Ashlee Dewhurst has produced a very solid performance in Canada leading up to her assault on the US Women’s Amateur Championship. The 23-year-old finished in equal tenth place in last week s Royale Cup Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship in Lethbridge, Alberta. Dewhurst carded rounds of 77, 68, 74 and 69, a total of 288 (EV) to finish tied with Canada s Soobin Kim at the Lethbridge Country Club. I am very happy with my top ten finish this week, said the former Australian Women’s Amateur Champion. Dewhurst finished fourteen strokes behind tournament champion Ariya Jutanugarn of Bangkok, Thailand who carded 69, 67 and 65 in her opening three rounds. After leading every round of the championship, Jutanugarn scored a one-over-par 73 on the final day of competition to end up at fourteen-under-par 274. I had a great caddie for the last two days of the championship thanks to Ashley Ona, added Dewhurst. Queensland s Ashley Ona was the only other Australian participating in the event and failed to make the cut with rounds of 83 and 84, a twenty three-over-par total of 167. Dewhurst s next stop is the US Women’s Amateur Championship at The Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio from August 6-12.
