A blockbuster field of 94 golfers has taken to Woodlands Golf Club for their open championship, played in conjunction with the 2019 Victorian Men’s Champion of Champions.
Some of Victoria’s best amateur golfers took to the course with Aiden Didone proving to strong, taking out the Woodlands Open and the Champion of Champions.
Didone produced a magnificent 68 in the AM round to take a five-shot lead at the halfway point.
Despite having a double bogey on his second hole, Didone would produce a remarkable eight birdies on his way to the four-under score.
His afternoon round saw an equally impressive even par 72 to run away with the comfortable seven shot win.
Didone was eligible for the champion of champions as he is the current Victorian Foursomes Champion.
Runner-up to Didone in both categories was Caleb Bovalina.
Bovalina was consistent throughout the day with rounds of 73 and 74.
The highlight of the day came from Woodlands member Andrew Newell who had a hole-in-one on the 154m 17th hole.
This was Newell’s first ever hole-in-one in competition play.
