Disability Challenge cut short by Sydney weather

The Inaugural Disability Challenge was held at The Coast Golf Club on November 8 in the lead up to the Emirates Australian Open. Representatives of Blind, Deaf, Amputee and Special Olympics took on the challenging course in fine, but windy conditions, only to be called in due to storms, thunder and lightning. The competition had to be reduced to 9 holes as only the first group had completed 18 holes when the storms hit with a vengeance. An individual stableford event. The results were: Women: 1st Jenny Abela, Blind Golf Australia with 14 points (on a count back) 2nd Kathryn Wilson, Special Olympics with 14 points 3rd Trudy Tassone, Amputee Golf Australia with 12 points Men: 1st Stephen Mitchell, Blind Golf Australia with 22 points 2nd Stephen Prior, Amputee Golf Australia with 21 points 3rd Sid Henderson, Amputee Golf Australia with 19 points.
