Special Olympics Australia NSW has introduced a Golf development program in Western Sydney at the Colonial Golf Course and Driving Range, Werrington.
The program is designed for anyone aged 10 years and over who has an intellectual disability. No experience is necessary to take part in the program, and all golf clubs and practice balls will be supplied.
The instruction will be conducted under the supervision of Head Coach Jeff Mansfield, a AAA rated PGA golf instructor.
For anyone interested in the program, a “Come and try” day will be held on Sunday 3 April between 1pm and 3pm. Participants should register beforehand.
When underway, the program will provide participants with a half hour skill session on Sundays between 1pm and 4pm. The last Sunday of the month will be a competition development session where participants will test their skills on the golf course. Family members or friends are welcome to come along and help during the competition development sessions.
Cost of the program is $5 per each Golf Development Program session, and a $40 Special Olympics Australia Participant Member fee which will also open up opportunities in other Special Olympics Australia sports programs.
To register, contact Andrew Sadlier, NSW/ACT Assistant Sports Development Manager.
