Craig Dodd (Blackwater) has claimed his second Queensland Men’s Indigenous Championship with rounds of 72-69-72 for a three-over total of 213. A total of 36 men and four women contested the championships, which celebrated its 11th year at Murgon Golf Club.
Rickie Dodd put up a stout defence of his title but a mixed start on day three ultimately led him to finish five-shots adrift with rounds of 71-72-75 (218). Shane Bird (Wondai) rounded out the top three with rounds of 74-76-71 (221).
The Women’s Championship was won by 2015 Champion, Kimberley Crawley (Maroochy River) who produced three strong rounds of 78-77-72 for a 54-hole total of 227 to secure the title. Standout was 11 year old Mary Golder of Dalby playing in her first Indigenous Championships and finishing runner-up.
The Senior’s Division saw Wondai member Noel Bird successful in the gross event with a three round total of 245, with Bill Glenbar (Murgon) claiming the Senior Nett Division with a three round total of 205.
Joseph Green (Gympie) took out the Overall Nett Prize with a three round score of 200, Michael Muller (Blackwater) was runner up two shots back on 202.
Through their victories both Craig Dodd and Joseph Green secured a start in the 2017 Isuzu Queensland Open Pro-Am at The Brisbane Golf Club.
