Welshman Jamie Donaldson fired a sensational 10-under-par 62 on day one of the BMW Masters in Shanghai to take a commanding four-stroke lead. Donaldson shot the course record at the Lake Malaren Golf Club on Thursday with a superb round that was blemish-free. He leads Swede Peter Hanson and Italian Francesco Molinari after the first day&aposs play. The 36-year-old started superbly, hitting five birdies from his first seven holes and he kept up the sizzling form on the back nine. Donaldson was 10 under through 16 holes before another birdie attempt lipped out on the 17th. Hanson hit eight birdies – five of which came in six holes from the 10th to the 15th – in his six-under 66 while Molinari was blemish-free in a composed round of golf. World No.1 Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland is tied for fourth alongside compatriot Michael Hoey and Spaniard Jose Maria Olazabal at five under. McIlroy – who won the title last year – hit four birdies on the back nine while Hoey and Olazabal were both blemish-free for the day too. German Martin Kaymer is one of six golfers tied for seventh at four under with the 27-year-old particularly impressive on the front nine, where he hit five birdies. Alongside Kaymer is English pair David Horsey and Justin Rose, South African Louis Oosthuizen, Italian Edoardo Molinari and Sweden&aposs Alexander Noren. Notable others in the field include South African Charl Schwartzel and Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell (both tied for 13th) and English trio Luke Donald, Ian Poulter and Paul Casey (all tied for 22nd).
