Doris Chambers Cup Settlers Run State Final

144 players from 72 clubs around Victoria participated in the first State Final of the Doris Chambers Cup at Settlers Run today. Conditions were perfect for the Stableford Foursomes event, with players embracing the sunshine after a rather damp winter.
In the morning field, Sue Vasey and partner Chris Grand-Court from Croyden (combined handicap 16) led the way with 36 points, also taking away the overall Doris Chambers Cup Settlers Run State Final title. One shot behind were Berwick Montuna’s Joyce Hammond and Maria Delaney (41) on 35 points, winning on a count-back from Amstel’s team of Kaye Grant and Ruth Hunter.
Janette Borgolotto and Deb Guilmartin (6) from Heidelberg were triumphant in the afternoon field with a score of 35 points, only one shot shy of morning winners Vasey and Grand-Court. Runners-Up were Desley Fotheringham and Mary Moore (12) from Commonwealth with 34 points on a count-back from Romsey team Lorraine Robb and Beryl Cole (29), and Warrugal team Wendy Brown and Kay Thompson (27).
The second State Final will be held next Friday 12th October at Gisborne Golf Club.
