Perth's Jordan Doull has continued the hot form of Australian players in American collegiate golf, recording his first victory for the Georgia-based Columbus State University.
Doull, in his second year with the Cougars, had begun the final round of the 54-hole McDonough Cup with a commanding lead after his opening 67 at the Rio Pinar Country Club in suburban Orlando.
But the 2017 West Australian representative's edge had evaporated entirely by the time he reached the 14th tee after some drama around the turn in which he dropped four strokes in four holes.
But Doull, a member at Mount Lawley Golf Club, remained cool under fierce pressure from Jonathan Noble, of Queen's University of Charlotte, to prevail by a single stroke.
Doull, the Peach Belt Conference freshman of the year last collegiate season, has had four top-20 finishes this season in 10 previous events.
