(Lakeland, Florida)
rn
rnLPGA Tour member Hannah Jun of San Diego finished with a four round total of 12-under par total 276 to win the qualifying school for the 2009 Duramed FUTURES Tour. In second place was Sweden’s Pernilla Lindberg, an amateur, who finished one shot behind Jun, with another amateur Victoria Kiser a further shot back in third.
rn
rnQualifying for the LPGA’s feeder tour began with over 300 hopefuls attempting to gain status for the 2009 season which begins on 20 March 2009 with the inaugural Florida’s Natural Growers Charity Classic in Florida. Playing three different courses on the first three days, the field was cut after 54-holes to 90 plus ties for the last round at Cleveland Heights Golf Course.
rn
rnThe 94 players who made the 54-hole cut will receive exempt or non-exempt status for the 2009 Duramed FUTURES Tour season. The number of exempt players will be determined following the final stage of LPGA qualifying starting 1 December 2008.
rn
rnOf the Australians who competed, only Kristie Smith (T9) and Priscilla Duffield (T53) made the cut, with five others missing out. Smith however, has ‘bigger fish to fry’ when she contests the gruelling final qualifying school for the LPGA in December. She will be joined by other ALPG Members Michelle Ellis, Sarah Kemp and  Sarah Oh who are all looking to improve their status for the 2009 season.
