Easte makes it a double at Cranbourne

Gary Easte has successfully defended his title at the Cranbourne Senior Amateur.

Gary fired a final round 73 after his impressive 70 yesterday, to take the championship by one from overnight joint leader Ray Walker. Easte was cruising through the final round and after birdies on holes 10, 12 & 13 he looked like he was going to win convincingly. Even a shaky bogey, bogey, double bogey finish was good enough to hold the trophy aloft.

Easte, a member at Spring Valley, said that a bit of time off work has allowed him to work on his game. Even after claiming the win, Gary mentioned he was off to Spring Valley to hit some range balls.

While Easte & Walker also produced the lowest nett scores, it was Horsham member Gary De Wit claiming the prize with the next best total of 142, edging out new comer Phil Bainbridge on a countback.

Cranbourne Golf Club, and all its staff, have one again held a splendid event with the course looking extraordinary as always. A busy week continues for the seniors with the inaugural Sandhurst Senior Amateur to be played this Thursday 5- Friday 6 March.
