Eight Aussies ready for Pebble

Three more Aussies advanced to the US Open through sectional qualifying around the world today.

Veteran Marcus Fraser fired rounds of 66-68 at Walton Heath in England to reach his fourth US Open, to be played at Pebble Beach in California next week.

He’ll be joined by fellow Victorian Aaron Baddeley, who carded rounds of 70-67 at two courses in Columbus, Ohio, to qualify.

And New South Welshman Brett Drewitt will make his major championship debut after surviving a two-man playoff with Korean Joo Young Lee in Springfield, Ohio, to punch his ticket.

They’ll bring to eight the number of Aussies in the second men’s major, joining Jason Day, Adam Scott, Marc Leishman, Cam Smith and last week’s Texas qualifier, Matt Jones.
