Elliott Victorious at Tasmanian Junior Masters

Tasmanian Ben Elliott shone in the final round at Barilla Bay forcing a play-off with Brett Coletta and David Micheluzzi of Victoria. In tough conditions, Elliott and Micheluzzi both carded rounds of 78 while Coletta returned a one-over-par 73. The trio finished with six-over-par scores of 294 which forced the teenagers into a sudden-death play-off. Elliott emerged victorious on the first play-off hole, the par four seventh, holing out in regulation. The Smithton Golf Club junior became the first Tasmanian to win the boys title in eleven years. A title won by current touring Professional Craig Hancock in 2002. Victoria s Georgia Macklan from the Jubilee Golf Club collected the corresponding girls title after a tough day on the greens. Macklan finished with third and fourth round scores of 86 and 79 to win by two strokes on 322 from Queensland s Kimberley Ikin. Ikin returned 83 and 82 for her 72-hole total of 324. Launceston golfer Mitch Van Noord picked up the Tasmanian Under 24 title. Van Noord finished with rounds of 76, 78, 74 and 79, a 72-hole total of 307.
