Players and officials at this week s Emirates Australian Open will be supporting the New South Wales Police Force by helping to raise funds for the family of Detective Inspector Bryson Anderson who was tragically murdered in the line of duty earlier this week. Some of the tournament s most recognised players, including former Australian Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, contacted Police on site at The Lakes Golf Club offering their support wherever possible. To help fundraising efforts for the family of Detective Inspector Anderson, Ogilvy and other marquee players will sign tournament memorabilia to be auctioned with proceeds going to Police Legacy for the financial support of Inspector Anderson s wife and children. The PGA Tour of Australasia and Golf Australia have also banded together with players, and will assist with a number of fundraising activities at The Lakes today. Spectators at today s final round will be encouraged to make a donation to the Bryson Anderson Memorial Fund at the front gate, while players will also be asked to contribute. Collectively the PGA Tour of Australasia and Golf Australia will match the overall donation. News of this tragedy has shocked all Australians and the PGA Tour of Australasia and our players felt compelled to contribute in some way.
