Entries open for 2008 Indigenous Championships

The Australian Indigenous Championships will be played at Nudgee Golf Club, 13-17 October 2008. The 72-hole stroke play event will bring many of the world s most talented indigenous golfers together at Nudgee s 36-hole complex, just 11 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD. Golf Australia officially endorsed the event for the first time last year and is pleased to continue supporting the development of indigenous golfers across Australia. Last year&aposs event saw Steve Thompson victorious by a single stroke over Renton Richie at Alice Springs Golf Club. Thompson finished 10-over to add to his victory in the Queensland Indigenous Championship. Kimberly Crawley, 17, of Queensland claimed the women&aposs title with a score of 346 after the four rounds. As an incentive for the participants of the event, the winners will be granted exemptions into equivalent Amateur Championships including the Australian Men’sAmateur Stroke Play and the Australian Women’s Amateur Qualifying in 2009.
