Entries are open for the 2017 Australian Junior Championships to be played from 5-7 April in New South Wales.
The Boys’ Championship will be played at Wollongong Golf Club and the Girls’ Championship will be played at Port Kembla Golf Club. It is the first time the clubs have hosted the events.
Wollongong Golf Club is situated on a stretch of pristine coastline. The views along the coast and the stunning mountain backdrop make it one of the most unique golfing experiences in NSW. It is one of Australia’s oldest clubs and has hosted the likes of major champions Gene Sarazen, Gary Player, Bobby Locke and Steve Elkington since the club’s inception in 1897, and from 2009-2011 it hosted the NSW PGA Championship 2009.
Port Kembla Golf Course is a challenging blend of tree lined fairways and strategic water carries which are sure to test all competitors.
Both events are played over 72-holes stroke play, and with a place in the Australian Open field up for grabs for the champions, there will be plenty of excitement come the final round.
The events have stellar honour rolls, with past winners including Adam Scott, Jason Day, Cameron Smith, Jan Stephenson, Haeji Kang and Minjee Lee.
The GA handicap limit for boys is 4.0 and for girls is 15.0.
Following the Australian Junior Championships, state teams will contest the Australian Junior Interstate Teams Matches, with the Girls’ remaining at Port Kembla Golf Club and the Boys’ travelling to Riverside Oaks Golf Course.
