Entries are now open for the 2011 Australian Junior Championships to be played from 13-15 April – the Girls’ Championship to be played in the Newcastle area, NSW, course to be confirmed, and the Boys’ Championship at Carnarvon Golf Club in Sydney’s western suburbs.

Last year’s Boys’ Championship saw the youngest winner in the event’s history, with 14 year old Anthony Murdaca from South Australia winning by two strokes. Korean Annie Choi, who bases herself on the Gold Coast, won the Girls’ Championship by the same margin.

The 2011 events will be among the strongest fields ever assembled, with Jake Higginbottom from NSW, and Cameron Smith from Queensland sure to be the favourites in the Boys’ Championship, while Minjee Lee from WA is sure to impress in the Girls’ Championship.

Both events have stellar honour rolls, with past winners including Adam Scott, Jason Day, Aaron Baddeley, Wendy Doolan and Jan Stephenson.

Last year’s champions will be hoping to retain their titles, and with a place in the Australian Open field up for grabs for both winners, there will be plenty of tension come the final round.

With the boy’s handicap limit of 4.4 and the girl’s 15.4, players are encouraged to enter as soon as possible.
