Entries are now open for the ISPS Handa Australian Senior Open, to be played from 30 November 2 December at Royal Perth Golf Club. The format will replicate the 2011 tournament, where professionals will play alongside an amateur partner for the first 36-holes before the players only battle it out in the final round of competition on the Sunday. The Pro-Am style format proved successful in 2011 and was an initiative of long term sponsor Dr Haruhisa Handa, Chairman of the International Sports Promotion Society, who hopes the opportunity presented to avid golfers to play alongside their golfing heroes will assist in raising funds for ISPS international charity work. The event returns to Royal Perth Golf Club for the third time with Peter Senior having won the Open the last time it was contested on the tight layout in 2010. Last year s championship was won by England s Gary Wolstenhome, with Terry Price second and Rodger Davis third. NSW s Lester Peterson was the leading amateur in a tie for 13th position. Up to 63 players are exempt into the field, with those not exempt attending qualifying at Royal Perth Golf Club on Tuesday 27 November. Eligible players are males 50 years and over as at 30 November, and for amateur golfers, their handicap must not exceed 3.0 strokes. The 2012 ISPS Handa Australian Senior Open will showcase national and international golfing stars and for the first time is co-sanctioned with the Asia-Pacific Champions Tour.
