Eric Apperly and Junior Pennant Finals This Weekend

pan style=”font-size:12px;”>Some of the State's finest young golfers will be on display this weekend when the Eric Apperly and Junior Pennant Finals are decided this Sunday.

Eric Apperly Shield – Sunday 15 September (9:00am at Magenta Shores)

pan style=”font-size:12px;”>Golf NSW is very greateful for a quality venue, like Magenta Shores, to have put up its hand to host such an important event.  The final was scheduled to be played at NSW GC, however, for obvious reasons the venue has been changed.

pan style=”font-size:12px;”>St. Michael's hopes to continue its recent strong perormances in elite competitions by claiming another Pennant title, and back to back wins in the Eric Apperly Shield.

pan style=”font-size:12px;”>St. Michael's had a closely fought win in the semi-finals against Monash CC, while NSWGC had a win against the successful Country Champions – Toukley GC.

pan style=”font-size:12px;”>Spectators are welcome.

pan style=”font-size:12px;”>Conducted annually from July to September, the Eric Apperly Shield competition is open to all Sydney Metropolitan Golf Clubs who are members of Golf NSW. This competition is also open to Country Golf Clubs who may qualify for the Finals through competing in their own or a neighbouring District Golf Association competition.

pan style=”font-size:12px;”>The Eric Apperly Shield is for male members of golf clubs who are under 24 years of age as at the date of the first round of the competition. Players must be male amateur golfers who are current financial members of the Club they are to represent as at 1 April. Eric Apperly Shield is a Contest between the two Clubs consisting of Six (6) Individual Matches played over 18-holes of match play without the benefit of handicap. The Clubs participating in the Eric Apperly Shield are divided into Divisions with up to six (6) Clubs in each Division, with the final number depending on the final nominations. Depending on the number of nominations the competition is played over four, five or six preliminary rounds, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

pan style=”font-size:12px;”>The Junior Pennant competition is open to those under 18 years of age as at the first round of the competition.  It is a Contest between two Clubs consisting of six (6) Individual Matches played over 18-holes of match play.  The first two Individual Matches are played without the benefit of handicap, while the last four are played with the benefit of handicap.

pan style=”font-size:12px;”>Avondale went through to the final after having the best for and against record of the Section winners, while Penrith defeated Monash CC in the semi-final 4 matches to 2.
