The Eric Apperly Final is set to be played this Sunday, 15th September at Pennant Hills Golf Club at 7.30am and is setting up to be an exciting contest. The final will be fought out between Avondale Golf Club and St. Michael s Golf Club. It seems fitting for these two strong clubs to be facing off in the final since both clubs had the depth to be able to field two teams each from the beginning of the competition. St. Michael s have a strong lead up to the final by winning their semi against Long Reef 5-1 without losing a match. In particular Ben Clementson had a convincing 5&4 win over Dylan Perry to lead his team to victory. In contrast, Avondale won a hard fought semi against Bonnie Doon in a playoff situation due to the score being three-all at the end of the individual matches. In this case the number one player from each team entered a sudden death playoff. It took Matthew Wittenberg three holes to beat Troy Moses in an exciting finish to this tightly contested final. Although the two clubs have had contrasting lead ups to the final it is believed that there will be some high quality matches, namely that of the match between Ben Clementson and Matthew Wittenberg. The Junior Pennant Final will also be played at Pennant Hills Golf Club at 7.00am between Antill Park Country Golf Club and Bayview Golf Club. This should also be an interesting contest between the two teams with both teams winning their semi-finals in sudden death playoffs after being tied at three-all after the individual matches. This tops off a solid couple of seasons for Antill Park across all pennant competitions with them winning their Major Pennant division 3 final in 2012 and making their Major Pennant division 2 final this year. With this combination, Antill Park have an exciting future in all pennant competitions. Bayview have had a close fought lead up to their final appearance by winning their division by only half a contest. With this lead up, it is anticipated that the Junior Pennant Final will be a closely contested match. We wish all clubs involved the best of luck.
