Europe storms to Bonallack Trophy win

There were mixed fortunes for the Aussies in the Bonallack Trophy&aposs final day of singles but the overall result was never in doubt as the Europeans waltzed away with a 20-12 victory at Valderrama in Spain. Facing a sizeable deficit going into Sunday&aposs round of singles matches, the Asian-Pacific team was always going to be up against it but the 12 players were determined to give it their all in the hope of overturning the margin. Tim Stewart did his part with a 2/1 victory over Frenchman Benjamin Hebert but compatriot Rohan Blizard was comprehensively beaten 7/5 by recent Srixon Australian Stroke Play Champion Daniel Willett of England. New Zealander James Gill halved his match with Englishman Chris Wood while fellow Kiwi Danny Lee was beaten 1down by Alex Kakeka who were also top performers at the Srixon Australian Amateur.
