Evelyn Clark takes the 2012 Silver Salver

Young Victoria GC Champion Evelyn Clark was the Victorian Salver winner at Amstel (Ranfurlie) and took 8th position in the Champion of Champions qualifier in a one hole playoff.
Tough windy conditions prevailed for the second round of the Victorian Salver and Champions of Champions qualifying rounds. It was a matter of endurance, with players having to negotiate not only the wind but also the long rough, the two factors that make this course so challenging. The pressure was on Abigail Chong (Eastern) after an excellent opening round of 77. But her luck wasn’t with her and a second round of 93 gave her overall second position. Evelyn Clark (Victoria) maintained her consistency and with rounds of 83 & 86 claimed the Victorian Salver title.  The Newton Lees Challenge Bowl ( Best Overall Nett) was son comfortably by Josephine Kempster (Commonwealth). The trophy presentation was special as Margaret Appleton, first Victorian Salver Winner (1975) attended and presented this prestigious titles.
Meantime, two of the Champion of Champions trophies were decided with defending Champion Rio Watanabe (Yarra Yarra) claiming the Joan Fisher Trophy (Best 36 hole qualifier) and Heather Brodie (Barwon Heads – H’cap 4) taking the Gwenda Anderson Trophy (Best 36 hole nett) with a score of 147.
