Every Dodt has his day

By Alistair Hogg Andrew Dodt has shot a 68 to take a share of the lead going into the final round of the Australian Amateur Stroke Play Championship. He is joined by New South Welshman, Scott Arnold as the pair tamed NSWGC at La Perouse. The Queenslander came home with a flurry as he carded a bogey-free back nine. In fact, Dodt&aposs round of two-under was almost blemish free other than a bogey on the par four seventh. Arnold shot a 66 to join Dodt at the top of the leaderboard. The New South Welshman started the day at two-under but piled a hat-trick of birdies on the front nine to finish six-under the card and lead the race to the Australian Amateur Stroke Play title. Overnight leader Ben Parker struggled today, shooting a 77 to fall back to one-under, five shy of the leaders. The 19-year old led the field by four at the start of play but two bogeys inside the opening four holes compounded by a double at seven saw him drop back to equal sixth. His countryman David Horsey meanwhile catapulted himself into contention with a four-under 66. The Englishman opened with a birdie bogey combination but was a picture of consistency after that. Horsey did not drop a stroke after the second hole and picked up and an eagle at 14. Scot Lloyd Saltman is tied with Horsey two strokes behind the leaders. After an erratic front nine, Saltman settled to record four birdies on his way to a 68. National Squad trio Josh Younger, Rohan Blizard and Rudi Bezuidenhout finished one over the card after the third round. The latter shot a 71 after recording a tournament-best 63 on Friday. The winner of the event will earn himself an exemption into the 2007 MFS Australian Open at The Australia Golf Club in December while the top 32 qualify for next week&aposs Match Play Championship.
