Exciting change for Women’s NSW Senior Order of Merit

Wednesday 30 July 2014

In an exciting new initiative, Golf NSW has revamped the current NSW Women’s Senior Order of Merit for this season. Under the previous system the WSOOM ran in-line with Jean Derrin events which wasn’t creating a great deal of interest in the event. Golf NSW has now organised a series of events that currently involves seven events, but it is envisaged that this number will grow by the end of the inaugural season.  As events are added to the list the players involved will be notified.

In the WSOOM, points will be awarded to the best placed players over 55 years of age.  Both a nett and a scratch SOOM table will be maintained.  It is hoped that we will get a series of Women’s Senior events that are well supported by the Senior golfers in NSW, because (1) they attract points towards the WSOOM (2) they are either specifically for Women Senior golfers or there are prizes specifically for women in that category.

As has happened in the past, players that entered the 2014 Women’s NSW Senior Championship will be automatically included in the points table. If you did not take part in this event and would like to register or would like any other information regarding the conditions and schedule, you can access this on our website by clicking here.

The opening event for the new format is the Kooindah Waters Seniors on Tuesday 26 August. For further details regarding entry click here.
