Exciting finish set up at Moonah Links

The Victorian Boys and Girls Championships are set up for a thrilling final day as the tournament heads into the last round at Moonah Links tomorrow.

Sophie Yip will take a commanding five-shot lead in the overall girls division.

Yip, the defending champion, produced her second sub-par round for the tournament to be at two-over-par through 54 holes. 

Belinda Ji sits in outright second on seven-over-par and will have her work cut out for her if she wants to bridge the gap tomorrow. 

Keeley Marx and Piper Stubbs are tied in third position a further seven shots behind Ji. 

The boys championship is set up for a thrilling final round with West Australian Carter Mealing and Victorian Nathan Page tied at five-under-par. 

The pair battled throughout the third round as both made impressive birdies on the 18th hole to lead the rest of the field.

Joining the two in the final group will be another West Australian in Jordan Jung who sits a further one shot back.

The 2018 Victorian Junior Open Champion Jasper Stubbs is hot on their heels as he finished today’s round at three under par for the tournament.

In the boys age group sections, Jye Halls will take a seven-shot lead in the under 16s whilst Thomas Ngo leads the under 14 section by one. 

The girls age divisions see overall leader Sophie Yip lead by 12 in the under 16s and Molly Mclean lead by an impressive 29 shots in the under 14s

Tomorrow will see play commencing in the AM with the lead players to hit off in the final groups of the afternoon.
