Fairfax maintains slender lead at Keperra

Courtesy: Golf Queensland ROUND 2 RESULTS Pacific Golf Club&aposs Gavin Fairfax holds a single-shot lead after day two of the Keperra Bowl at the Keperra Country Golf Club in Brisbane. Fairfax carded a second round two-under par 70 to sit at -10 at the half way stage of the tournament. He leads Luke Blumink (-9) by a single shot, after the VIS squad member fired an impressive second round 68 (-4) to follow yesterday&aposs 67 (-5). A clutch of players are tied for third position at 8-under par (136). Two players in particular will hold fond memories of today&aposs second round, with Jonathan Holder (Inverell) acing the 135m par 3 8th hole, and Queensland development squad player Viraat Badhwar (Indooroopilly) holing a perfect 4-iron approach to record an albatross on the 433-metre par 5 11th. The round of the day however belonged to Queensland Amateur Champion and Mens Stroke Play runner up Brett Drewitt (Long Reef), who carded an outstanding 8-under par 64 to get back into contention at -5 after 36-holes. Keperra&aposs lightning fast greens proved the main obstacle for many players on day two, with one 5-putt being recorded on the tricky multi-tiered 18th hole. The 36-hole cut was made at 3-over par with 71 players progressing through to the third round. Thursday&aposs third round starts from 8:00am.
