In perfect conditions, Fairfax produced a flawless third round across the Keperra Country Golf Club layout, registering nine birdies and nine pars to lead the tournament by 8 strokes at a total of 197 (-19). Marika Batibasaga (Indooroopilly), making a recent welcome return to the Amateur ranks, carded an impressive 5-under par 67, to be tied in second position with Blake McGrory (Surfers Paradise) who was again a model of consistency with a 3-under par 69. Other notable scores included a pair of 6-under par 66&aposs from Daniel Brinngolf (The Australian) and Taylor Macdonald (Redcliffe). It was the experienced Queensland representative Fairfax who provided most of the days highlights and an added touch of drama at the final hole. Requiring a birdie three on the 18th to break the record, Fairfax unfortunately hit his approach shot long to the front right pin position, and worse was to follow as his birdie putt slipped tantilisingly by the hole and off onto the front fringe of the green. It was to the delight of the attending gallery however that Fairfax holed the 3-metre chip for the recorded equalling 63. He now shares the Keperra course record with Rick Kulacz, Kevin Lee and Max McCardle. Tee off in tomorrow&aposs final round of the Keperra Bowl commences from 08:00am with the leading group hitting off at 09:33am
