Bruce and Ron Fredrick (Melbourne) along with Di Robinson (Warrnambool) and Annie Seccull (Huntingdale) have been crowned the Men’s and Women’s Family Champions respectively. Bruce and Ron, who are father and son, played some fantastic golf to record a Four Ball score of 46 points. Surprisingly they managed to do this with a wipe on the 128m Par 3 13th. The competition was tight at the top with a countback separating the winners and runners up. Phil and Andrew Larcombe (Curlewis & Clifton Springs) were the unlucky ones losing the countback on the impressive 46 points.
Di and Annie, who are sisters, played some consistent golf to record a winning score of 38 points. Following them, and runners up for the day, were Deborah Fowler & Beverley Wheeler who carded 37 points.
In what was another perfect morning, 66 players went out on the beautiful Barwon Heads layout and were treated with pure slick greens. Scoring was quite respectable with 14 pairs scoring equal or better than 40 points.
Barwon Heads Golf Club should be congratulated for hosting the event. Their hospitality and presentation of the course was nothing short of excellent and Golf Victoria and the players look forward to returning to this fantastic facility for next year’s event.
