What will I learn from Swing Fit?

  • Swing Fit will give you the basic skills, knowledge and confidence to get you started in golf
  • It gives you an opportunity to meet other beginners to enjoy golf with and gets you familiar with a golf club/venue environment
  • The basics of the golf swing and how to putt over a six week program, whilst also getting your whole body moving through golf-specific conditioning and movement exercises.

Do I need to know anything about golf?

  • No. The best thing about Swing Fit is that you do not have to be good at golf to get involved, or have even picked up a club before. You don’t need any golf knowledge or equipment; simply turn up in comfy clothing and get started. 

Do I have to be fit?

No. A Swing Fit program will, however, increase your range of movement and flexibility, improve upper, mid and lower body conditioning, and provide a low intensity cardiovascular outdoor activity.

How are the 75 minutes spent in each session?

  • 10 minutes warm-up
  • 15 minutes learning and/or refreshing golf swing basics
  • 15 minutes of golf-specific conditioning exercises
  • 15 minutes of putting
  • 5 minutes cool-down
  • 15 minutes drink and debrief

How do I find a Swing Fit Program?

  • The 'Find a program' section of the website allows you to find a Swing Fit program near you. Use the search function to search via postcode or suburb, to find a convenient location, date and time
  • Swing Fit is an emerging program, with centres and deliverers 'becoming active' all the time, so it's very possible there isn't currently a program near you – if this is the case, please click on 'Can't find a program' and register your interest so we can contact you when a program near you comes online.

How do I register for a Swing Fit program?

  • Once you have found a suitable Swing Fit program, simply register and follow the prompts.

How much does it cost?

  • Six week Swing Fit programs typically cost $120.00 (including GST), but the price may vary dependent on the program, location and deliverer

I'm trying to register for a Swing Fit program, but it is saying it is full or registration is closed? What should I do?

  • Please contact the centre contact who can talk through the options with you.

What do I receive when I register?

  • Upon registering, you will receive a welcome email. The centre where you sign up for will also receive an email notifying them of your registration. 
  • To enhance a Swing Fit experience, participants have the option of purchasing a ‘Swing Fit participant pack’ that comprises of a Swing Fit branded drink bottle, visor, shoe drawstring bag and a summary of instruction from the course. This is available via the online shop at www.swingfit.com.au

How many people attend each session?

  • Each Swing Fit program has between 6-10 participants. We have found this provides the best environment for participants to learn and have fun, and for the deliverer to manage the group effectively.

What do I need to wear?

  • Comfortable clothing and covered shoes such as trainers or casual joggers
  • Your choice of clothes may include leggings, casual pants or shorts, a t-shirt and/or a jumper
  • It is best to avoid short shorts, skirts, mid-riff or tank tops, and jeans.
  • If you are unsure about what to wear, simply contract your program centre for clarification.

What equipment do I need?

  • Nothing! You will be provided all equipment once you arrive at your session. You may like to take a drink bottle and sunscreen.

Can girls take part in a Swing Fit Program?

  • Swing Fit has been developed for women aged 18 years and over, however there is no reason why teenagers cannot attend a Swing Fit Program if they are keen to do so
  • Australia's national junior program, MyGolf, is a more suitable program for 5-12 year olds (visit www.mygolf.org.au for further information).

Can I buy my own Swing Fit equipment?

  • At this stage, Swing Fit equipment is not available to purchase
  • If you are looking to purchase some golf equipment, your Swing Fit program deliverer will be more than happy to assist.

Do I get a refund if I cannot attend a program or particular session?

  • If, after registering, you can no longer attend the program, you may be entitled to a refund. Please speak to your Swing Fit centre regarding a refund.

What happens if it is raining when my session(s) is planned?

  • As golf is an outdoor sport, you may encounter poor weather at some point.
  • Depending on the severity of the conditions, your deliverer may use some slightly poor weather as an opportunity to teach you about playing in the rain
  • If conditions are not suitable outside, your deliverer may move you indoors
  • Always feel free to contact your Swing Fit centre prior to the session if you are unsure about whether to travel to a session.

Are all deliverers qualified?

  • Yes. Deliverers must have completed training before delivering a Swing Fit program.

What happens if I am injured during the program? Am I covered by Insurance?

  • Yes. All participants are covered by personal liability for personal injury or property damage during a program. If you have a claim, or believe you have a claim, please contact the Swing Fit team on 03 9626 5000.

Once I have completed the Swing Fit program, what options do I have? 

  • Talk with your Swing Fit Deliverer about future opportunities to progress your golf
  • Enrol in another Swing Fit program
  • Check out other beginner clinics
  • Investigate purchasing a women's starter set of clubs, bag and shoes
  • Book in for a series of lessons with a PGA professional
  • Keep practicing and having fun with the game at your local driving range or club
  • Book in for nine holes at your local golf course
  • Check out your state or territory-specific programs e.g. PlayGolf clinics in Victoria, Ladies Let’s Golf in Queensland and Ladies Learning Golf in Western Australia
