Fast & furious Felton takes title

So did the pros really prove they can drive for show and putt for dough?

It seems Western Australian Jarryd Felton can.  The rookie pro left the rest of the field in his wake to take out the 2015 NSW Open Golf Championship Pro Celebrity Karting Challenge at Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway.

The 'fast and furious' Felton was never headed in the 14 lap event, which included former NRL stars Craig Gower and Wendell Sailor, NSW Sports Minister Stuart Ayres and a host of PGA Professional golfers.

The Pro Celebrity Karting Challenge kicked off a week long extravaganza to celebrate the NSW Open Golf Championship.  The event proved to be a thrilling experience for many of them, and a lot more physically demanding than they realised.

"It's pretty good fun out there. You don't get anything like that on a golf course," Kart Champion Felton says.

Other celebrity racers couldn't hide their enthusiasm for the event either.

It's better than lego mate," says NRL star Wendell Sailor.  "I felt like Lewis Hamilton oout there."

Nathan Green and NRL Star Craig Gower took a part in a spirited duel on the track, and finished a close second and third.

"It was awesome fun," Nathan Green says. "It's been a great night."

Some of the drivers did acknowledge their mere mortal status behind the wheel.

2014 NSW Open Champion Anthony Brown says, "I'm a hack at it but it is great."

It was left to NSW Sports Minister Stuart Ayres to sum the event up, "It is a great way to promote the NSW Golf Open."
