Fasth storms into lead

Sweden&aposs Niclas Fasth has a two-stroke lead after the second day at Munich&aposs BMW International while Australia&aposs Brett Rumford has fallen off the pace a little. After a two-hour storm delay, Fasth tamed the weather as he added a seven-under-par 65 to his opening round 67 to lead the way over fellow Swede Peter Hanson. Hanson went round in 66 to claim second place with an overall score of 10-under-par as Thomas Levet (67), first round joint-leader Jos -Filipe Lima (70) and Andres Romero (68) tied for third just one-stroke further back. Rumford, meanwhile, looked set to be in contention for a share of the lead with Fasth after carding five birdies on the front nine. But the Australian struggled to maintain that form and ended up dropping three strokes on the back nine to card his second successive 70 at Munich and end up in four-under-par overall. As the weather turned nasty, Peter Fowler could only manage a one-over 73 for the day as he ended the second round a stroke behind Rumford while Terry Price (68) recovered from an opening 74 to be at two-under-par overall going into the third round. Peter O&aposMalley (68) also enjoyed a much-improved round after carding 75 on Thursday, but that was not enough to save the Australian from missing the cut along with Andrew Tampion (69), Matthew Millar (73) and Wade Ormsby (73).
