Melbourne’s iconic Federation Square will play host to the Victorian launch of Golf Australia’s Playgolf WEEK initiative on Sunday 2 November. Starting at 10am, a range of golf activities and give-a-ways will be on offer for everyone visiting the Golf Victoria active zone.
The launch signals the start of a huge month of golf lined up across the country including the first national Playgolf WEEK. Playgolf WEEK is a week of golf activities from 17-23 November to encourage people to take up the game. It includes come & try days, special club offers, prizes and competitions.
Playgolf WEEK’s purpose is to raise the awareness of golf to current and future players that leads to increased participation through club membership, participation program sign-ups, golf lessons, rounds of golf, golf facility visits and more.
Currently, over 70 Victorian golf clubs have activities organised during the 17-23 November week. For a full list of activities, visit www.playgolf.com.au.
Also in the month of November will be Golf Victoria’s Open Day at Yarra Bend Golf Club on Sunday 16 November. This day will be open to all new and existing golfers and will be the precursor for the start of Playgolf WEEK from 17-23 November.
Further, the Australian Majors commence with the Australian Masters being played at The Metropolitan Golf Club from November 20-23 with World No. 2 Adam Scott defending his crown. The following week, the Emirates Australian Open will be hosted at The Australian Golf Club in Sydney featuring World No. 1 Rory McIlroy and Scott, who was defeated on the final hole at last year’s Open by McIlroy.
