The Finalists are set for the 2009 Australian School Teams Championship National Final which will commence next weekend at Peninsula Country Golf Club. Over the last six months, 130 secondary school teams have competed at State Finals, with the chance to progress to the National Final. Last year s winners, Como Secondary College from WA, will be keen to defend their title, with Whitney Harvey, Jason Chellew and Liam Spooner all making it to the final for the first time. Emma Ash, who went undefeated at the Australian Girls Interstate Team Matches in April will lead her Henley High School team from SA, while the Tasmanian team from Launceston College will be eager to take the Trophy over Bass Strait. The Rowville Secondary College team of Zac Morwood, Ryan Woodward and Luke Talbot will be sure to challenge given their local knowledge, while the NSW team from Westfield Sports High, headed by 2009 Australian Boys Amateur runner up Andrius Belkus, is sure to also put in a strong performance. Hills International College in Queensland returns again in 2009, hoping to improve on the second place finish last year. Each team contests 36-holes stroke play, with the team having the lowest aggregate total taking the title.
