Fisher Jnr, Sterne share Joburg lead

South African duo Trever Fisher Jnr and Richard Sterne lead the Joburg Open by three strokes after the second round on Friday. Fisher Jnr joined Sterne on 15-under overall after carding a nine-under 62 on the West Course at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club, with an early eagle on the second hole setting the tone for his round. Sterne backed up an opening round of 63 by recording a seven-under 65 on the East Course, maintaining his good form going into the weekend. Three shots behind the joint leaders is another South African, George Coetzee, who hit eight birdies en route to a 64 on the East Course, earning him outright third in the standings. Tied for fourth on 10 under is Chile&aposs Felipe Aguilar (66), South Africa&aposs Charl Schwartzel (65) and compatriot Keith Horne (66). Germany&aposs Maximilian Kieffer, joint first-round leader alongside Sterne on Thursday, struggled on the East Course, recording a par round and dropping off the pace, to sit eight under in the European Tour event. Bryce Easton, who enjoyed a memorable hole in one on Thursday, was also on eight under after only managing a one-under 70 on the West Course. England&aposs Greame Storm matched Fischer Jnr&aposs equal-best round of the day after a hole-in-one on the fifth hole propelled him to a nine-under round, but he is still tied for 41st after an opening round 76.
