Five amateurs make Senior Open field

An additional five players have qualified for the Inaugural Men’s NSW Senior Open to be played at Thurgoona Country Club Resort from November 1st to 4th this year.

Scott Richardson added his name to the list after taking out the Tura Beach Senior Amateur Classic. The Tura Beach local carded a two-round score of 154 to win the event on a countback from Kym Olsen of the National Golf Club.

Leonay Golf Club’s Laurie Cupples booked his place in the Championship when he finished runner-up to the 2017 NSW Senior Amateur Champion Robert Payne in last week’s Duntryleague Senior Open.

Robert Martin posted the Lowest score by a senior Golfer in last weekend’s Forbes Open, which was won by local John Betland.

Kingston Heath’s Gordon Claney and Moss Vale’s Paul Maslen added their names to the field after finishing first and second at the NSW Senior Classic, played at the Lakes and the Australian GC this week. The pair posted a score of 154, with Claney the winner of the event on a countback.
