Five Aussies close on Web Q-School

Cameron Davis and Anthony Quayle are en route to Seoul for this week's Asia Pacific Amateur Championship, but both are already big winners.

Sydney's Davis and the Gold Coast's Quayle, both pondering their professional status pending the result in Korea, were among five young Australians to advance through the first stage of Web.Com Tour first stage qualifying tournaments.

They'll join young Victorian pros Todd Sinnott Bryden Macpherson and Perth's Jarryd Felton in the second stage with an eye on reaching December's final Q-School in Florida.

Other Australians were not quite so lucky with James Nitties, Lincoln Tighe, Lucas Herbert, Tim Hart, Adam Stephens and D.J. Loypur missing out.

There are still nine venues to host additional first stage events, in coming weeks with several more Aussies expected to try their hand as they chase a card to play the 2017 Web.Com Tour.

Davis and Quayle will be joined by Curtis Luck, Harrison Endycott, Brett Coletta and Travis Smyth in a strong Australian contingent in Seoul.

The winner of the Asia Pacific Amateur crown wins a berth in the 2017 Masters, although Luck has already qualified by virtue of his US Amateur triumph in August.
