Flanagan blows his chance

Nick Flanagan has shot a disastrous five-over par 77 in his third round to plummet down the leaderboard at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open in Nevada. Flanagan was tied for second place at the halfway mark and looked set to challenge the leaders over the weekend, but three bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey removed him from contention for the title. The winner looks to be a formality with American Parker McLachlin carding a six-under 66 to take him to 20-under for the tournament. McLachlin&aposs superb round included five birdies, an eagle on the par-four fifth and just one bogey as he all but assured himself of victory. McLachlin holds a six stroke lead over Englishmen Brian Davis, who is a further four strokes clear of John Rollins. Andrew Buckle continued his fine form to be the best placed Australian in a tie for fourth place at nine-under. The rest of the Austrlalian contingent is well down the leaderboard with Gavin Coles at two-under and Matt Jones and Steve Elkington at one-under.
