Flanagan finds old fire in new role

Newcastle professional Nick Flanagan is getting an entirely different perspective of a major championship this week.

Flanagan, 32 on Monday gone, has himself played in four majors, but has never before been involved as a caddie as he is for good friend Aron Price this week.

And while Flanagan, a six-time professional tournament winner including four on the Web.com Tour, has gone through a rough patch with sticks in hand lately, he said today that helping out his fellow New South Welshman on the big stage was helping “put the fire back in the belly”.

And in coming back to the scene of his 2003 US Amateur triumph at Oakmont, he’s also learning quickly that he doesn’t want to be a caddie full-time, even on a course so dear to his heart.
