FLASH: Davis wins Emirates Australian Open

Sydneysider Cameron Davis has come from the clouds in the final round to claim the 2017 Emirates Australian Open.

Fighting off PGA Tour winners Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Cameron Smith and Jonas Blixt, Davis signed for a final round 7-under 64 to win by one stroke.

A 72nd hole birdie at the par-5 18th was enough to hold off Swede Blixt and 2015 champion Matt Jones.

The 22-year-old carded six birdies and an eagle to storm into contention as the leading groups made the turn at The Australian Golf Club, dropping just one shot for the day with a bogey at the par-4 16th.

Day and Victorian Lucas Herbert looked set to duke it out for the Stonehaven Cup as the tournament reached its final stages, but late collapses from both provided Davis with the perfect opening.

More to come.
