It’s safe to say that final rounds don’t get much hotter than that.
After a three-way playoff with Australians Ashley Hall, Cameron Smith, Jordan Spieth has been crowned the 2016 Emirates Australian Open champion.
With rounds of 69, 70, 68 and 69 around The Royal Sydney Golf Club, Spieth found himself on 12 under the card and tied at the top alongside Hall and Smith – sending the trio back up the 18th.
Spieth needed just one sudden death hole to remind us of his brilliance. His tee shot hit the middle of the fairway, his approach gave him 15 foot for birdie and the World No. 5 made it look easy from there.
Consolation for Smith and Hall comes in the shape of a start at the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Aaron Baddeley will also receive a start given that Spieth is already exempt.
More to come shortly.
