Forbes Juniors Shine at Wentworth Junior Open

Eight juniors represented Forbes Golf Association at the Wentworth Junior Tournament on Sunday 8th December. The event hosted 50 juniors from the Central West. Wentworth Golf Club Professional Todd Iffland was extremely happy with the support from the Forbes juniors.

The overall Scratch winner was Scotty Matheson from Bathurst with a round of 70. Forbes Juniors featured in the major prizes; Lee Grierson was the School Boys scratch winner with a score of 74 following a play off with James Conron from Orange. Jarrod Andrews took out the 17 Years handicap event with a nett score of 67. Stuart Gordon was successful in the U14 Division with a nett score of 65 winning on a count back from Dubbo junior Jimmy Alexander.

Also having a successful day in the U14 Division was Cameron McMillan who finished up in third place in the scratch, William Gordon fifth place in the scratch. Josh Vale, Tom Everson and Sam Clark carded improving rounds but missed the major prizes in their age divisions.

The recent trip to the Emirates Australian Golf Open at Royal Sydney by nine Forbes juniors has created plenty of energy amongst the group. Contributing to the recent success of Forbes Juniors is the coaching and practice schedule implemented with PGA members Todd Iffland and Todd Brackenridge at Forbes during October and November.

The Forbes Golfers Association Junior program will resume following a short break over Christmas and the course is always open and welcomes new junior golfers.

Parents consider a set of junior clubs for the New Year and introduce your children to a game for life!
