Women&aposs Summer Foursomes Match Play Finals Three fantastic finals completed the 2014 Women&aposs Summer Foursomes at Kogarah GC. Olivia Wilson of New South Wales GC and Leanne Munt of Tura Beach GC had a 4/2 win over the Penrith Ladies Kerry Davis and Joanne Ogle. The golf was of a high standard and the match was played in a very sporting fashion. In Division 2 Truda Rail of Strathfield GC and Gillian Virginie of Concord GC had a narrow victory over Donna McCormick and Wendy Coupe of Kogarah GC. Truda was faced with a tricky putt to finish the match after Donna sank a 20 foot putt. All players agreed it was a fantastic match and thoroughly enjoyed the event. In Division 3 Glenda Lloyd and Chris Binfield of Mona Vale GC had a 3/1 win over Suzanne Pickering and Judy Barrett of The Coast GC. Women&aposs Summer Foursomes Matchplay Semi Finals The morning matches have been played at Kogarah GC. In Division 1 Olivia Wilson (NSW GC) and Leanne Munt (Tura Beach GC) were two down through three holes against Sharon Thompson (Avondale GC) and Jan Crighton (Killara GC) and fought back to win 4/3. They play Joanne Ogle and Kerry Davis (Penrith GC) this afternoon. Ogle and Davis defeated Liz Smyth (Royal Canberra GC) and Maggie Hayes (Bermagui GC) 1up. In Division 2 Wendy Coupe and Donna McCormick playing on their home course had a 4/3 win over Robyn Heazlett and Heather Jones of Bayview GC. In the second match Truda Rail of Strathfield GC and Gillian Virginie of Concord GC won 3/2 against Jill Olynik of Kogarah GC and Maree Langham of The Lakes GC. Coupe and McCormick play Rail and Virginie in the Division 2 final. In Division 3 Glenda Lloyd and Chris Binfield (Mona Vale GC) received a forfeit from Dianne Polychrone and Valerie Hyde of Kogarah GC. Suzanne Pickering and Judy Barrett of The Coast GC had a 3/2 win over fellow club mates Laetitia Curtis and Katherine O&apos Connor (The Coast GC). Lloyd and Binfield play Curtis and O&apos Connor of The Coast GC in the Division 3 Final. Women&aposs Summer Foursomes The first day of play has come to an end at Kogarah Golf Club. Mild and dry conditions throughout the day were favourable for the event. The Women&aposs Summer Foursomes is an 18-hole scrach event in three divisions (Division 1: plus to 15, Division 2: 15.5 to 25, Division 3: 25.5 to 32.5) with the top four teams in each division qualifying for matchplay. In Division 1 Jan Crichton of Killara GC and Sharon Thompson of Avondale GC had a score of 81 to win the scratch prize. In Division 2 Wendy Coupe and Donna McCormick of Kogarah GC won had a score of 92. In Division 3 Glenda Lloyd and Chris Binfield of Mona Vale GC had the best scratch score in with a score of 103. The top four teams in each division play matchplay teeing off at 8am with the remaining teams playing a final in each division in the afternoon. The draws can be viewed via the links below. Final Results Strokeplay – Women&aposs Summer Foursomes DIVISION 1 DIVISION 2 DIVISION 3 PRIZE WINNERS Men&aposs NSW Senior Foursomes Medal The standard of golf at the 2014 Men&aposs NSW Senior Foursomes medal was excellent at Kogarah GC. Seventy eight players from various clubs in New South Wales participated in the event. Darryl Hearsch and Peter Thomas of Manly GC produced a fine score of 70 to win this years event by three strokes from Denis Dale of Twin Creeks GC and Tom Yates of Bexley GC who had a score of 73. The Carnarvon pair of John Honeybrook and Bruce Threlfo had a score of 71.5 nett to win the nett prize. John Paton of Queanbeyan GC and David Titcume of Penrith GC were the winners of the Over 65&aposs with a score of 79. The 2014 Women&aposs Summer Foursomes and 2014 Men&aposs NSW Senior Foursomes Medal will be held at Kogarah Golf Club on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 January 2014. The Women&aposs Summer Foursomes will be 18-hole Scratch Stroke Foursomes on the Monday, with the top four pairings in each division qualifying for Match Play on Tuesday. The Semi Finals will be played on Tuesday morning and the Finals played on Tuesday afternoon. The Men&aposs NSW Senior Foursomes Medal will be 18-holes Scratch Stroke, played on the Monday.
