Foursomes Champions – Stowe & Williams and Blum & Lee
Ben Stowe & Jack Williams both from The Grange have taken out the SA Men's Foursomes Championship while Jenny Lee (Glenelg) and Kristalle Blum (The Grange) have claimed the SA Women's Foursomes Championship.
Hosted by the Fleurieu Golf Club on Sunday 24 August, the 34 pairs encountered perfect conditions, unlike in 2013, when the event was cancelled at Blackwood prior to the first group in, due to unplayable conditions from constant heavy rain.
In the men’s event, Stowe and Williams combined well to fire a 6 under 66 in round one to hold a 6 stroke lead over Glenelg duo John Noble and Campbell Rawson.
Chris Burns (Fleurieu) and Lachlan Barker (Echunga) made a charge in round two shooting a 1 under 71 to go with their round one score of 77, but couldn’t catch Williams and Stowe who finished 6 strokes ahead of the pair at 2 under after a 76 in round two.
Third place went to Chad Methven and Adam Alldritt (Fleurieu) on +7 (151) while Best Nett (145) was won by Jason Masters (The Grange) and Todd McGrath (West Lakes)
In the Women’s Championship, Lynette Pascoe & Emma Ash (Thaxted Park) held the first round lead with a 5 over the card 77 however the pair was unable to repeat that form in round two posting an 85.
After a disappointing first round 84, Lee and Blum posted a solid second round 76 to win the title by two strokes.
Pascoe and Ash finished runner up, while best nett went to Emma Sutton and Elysia Yap.
