Fox has Euro card in his sights

Daniel Fox has moved within a couple of good rounds of a European Tour card.

The West Australian fired a fourth-round 70 today to sit five under par after the fourth of the six rounds in the Tour’s final Q-School marathon.

And with the top 25 and ties to get a card for season 2017, Fox has worked his way into a tie for 15th at PGA Catalunya, in Spain.

And it was reasonable news for Australia’s two other remaining combatants as they chase new leader, England’s Nathan Kimsey on 12 under after a breathtaking 61.

Tasmanian Ryan McCarthy’s rollercoaster ride continued with a 70 to add to his 74-64-74 opening to sit at two under the card as a cut was made at even par for the top 70 and ties.

Victorian Ben Eccles is also still in the hunt despite a second consecutive 74 left him at one under.

All three Aussies have secured at worst a Challenge Tour card for next season.

Brett Rumford and Jordan Zunic have already withdrawn after flat early-round performances.
