Freddy breaks through at Shepparton

Day 2

Freddy Barton from Eastwood Golf Club has won the 2013 Shepparton Senior Amateur Tournament after a final round 3 over par 75. With a 78 yesterday, Barton held off Alan Bullas (Commonwealth) & John Keller (Hill Top) to post a 153 total and clinch the title by one shot.

Freddy, who is often called the ‘paddle pop lion’ with his long hair, came off a solid 78 yesterday to continue his stellar form today. In today’s round, Barton went out in an incredible one under par 36 and came home with a four over par 39. This title is the first for Freddy, and his excitement was clearly evident in the clubhouse following his game.

In the nett, Robert Lee from Sandhurst continued his good form from yesterday to win with a total of 138 off a handicap of 12.  Eddie Kloprogge (Creekside) was runner up with a 141 total.

In the stableford, Shepparton member Robert Dixon was victorious with rounds of 36 and 38 points for a 74 point total.

The players were welcomed with two fine weather days and a course presented in fantastic condition. A special thanks to all Shepparton staff and their volunteers for the help and coordination of the event.
