Friday Women’s Pennant – April 24 Results

Round 6 of Friday Women’s Pennant was played on Friday 23 April for Divisions 1, 2 & 3 at Royal Melbourne, Woodlands and Sandhurst, with Victoria, Eastwood and Riversdale sitting on top of each ladder respectively.

Wrapping up their seasons, Divisions 4 and 5 contested their finals at Heidelberg GC today in perfect autumn conditions. First teams out for were Division 5 finalists Gisborne and Amstel. Through 9 holes, Gisborne lead 6 games to 1, but Amstel fought back securing 3 matches to take the battle down to the number 1 seeds. Gisborne’s number 1 player Kerry Peterson maintained her 6 up lead through the turn to win her match 5 and 4 and seal the 2015 flag for Gisborne.

In Division 4, it was again down to the wire between Box Hill and Centenary Park. Teams were tied with 3 matches each, with their number 6 players Carmel Edwards (Box Hill) and Yvonne Everitt (Centenary Park) taking their match to the 22nd hole. Edwards holed a crucial 8 ft putt to apply pressure onto her opponent and claim victory for Box Hill, whose halving putt narrowly missed the edge.

Thank you to Heidelberg GC for hosting today’s finals. The 7th and final round Divisions 1-3 will continue on Friday 1May to determine contestants for the Final on Friday 8 May.
