Fun filled day at Oakleigh

The second Golf Victoria ‘Fambrose’ tournament was contested today along with the final Stuart Appleby Rookie Series event for 2016. Cool, overcast and blustery conditions made the day quite the challenge for all competitors.

A near capacity field teed it off for the two person ambrose tournament donned the ‘Fambrose’. The father and son combination of Hamish and Dave Farquharson took home the crown with a blistering three under-par 26. Alessandro and Rocco Tarantelli edged out the brother and sister duo Alessandra and Daniel Nagayo on a countback for the runner-up position.

Another count back was required in the nett section but the Bendigo combination of Tom and Jason Roberts prevailed for top honours after a round of 26.5.

In today’s Rookie Series event Ben Powell recorded a round of 32 off the stick to walk home with yet another U11 boys title. Hamish Farquharson finished only one shot back with a more than respectable round of 33 on the par 29 layout. Lucas McDonald blitzed the field with his nett round of 18 for the handicap prize.

Skana Sutherland was too strong in the U11 girls after a score of 41 to stand tall on top of the podium. Hannah Wong took home yet another Rookie trophy with her nett score of 23.

In the U16 boys section Matty Ahmetoglu was the best in with a round of 32, three shots better than Tom Jemison. The handicap prize was awarded to Jackson Green this afternoon following his round of 23 nett.

The silky lefthander Ally Kerr walked away with the silverware in the U16 girls division with a very solid score of 36 despite the gusty and cool conditions. Lastly, a great performance from Katya Adkin with a nett score of 22 brought her the first-place prize.

Well done to all of the winners!
