Fun for all at Oakleigh

The third Golf Victoria ‘Fambrose’ tournament was contested today along with the final Stuart Appleby Rookie Series event for 2017. The cool and overcast skies eventually rolled away to provide players with a sunny afternoon.

A near capacity field teed it off for the two-person ambrose tournament donned the ‘Fambrose’. The father and son combination of Alessandro and Rocco Tarantelli took home the crown with a superb level-par 29. Last year’s champions Hamish and Dave Farquharson walked home with the runner-up position after a very respectable score of 30.

A six-way count-back was required in the nett section but the combination of Grace and Phillip Mak prevailed for top honours after a round of 27.

In today’s Rookie Series event the low rounds went to both Phoenix Diaz and Roi Lawrence Fortinez shooting 32. Diaz’s three over-par tally saw him win yet another under 9 boys title taking his season tally to an impressive six wins. Meanwhile in the very last qualifying event, Roi Lawrence Fortinez cemented a place in the January final claiming the under 16 boys trophy. In the under 9 boys Ben Ellul carded todays best nett score of just 22 for top spot.

Eisha Sohail walked away with the silverware in the under 9 girls division with a very solid score of 41 on the tight tree-lined layout. A great performance from 6-year-old Area Tran brought her the first-place prize after carding a nett score of 29 from her 23 handicap.

Tyler Talbot made it back-to-back victories in the under 12 boys today with a solid score of 33 while Brian Thai was victorious in the handicap sector. The smooth swinging Skana Sutherland continues to impress as she stood on top of the podium in the under 12 girls with a round of 39.  Aleisha Hannam-Lewis kept the momentum going from the Dunes two weeks ago with another handicap medallion being presented to her this afternoon.

In the under 16 girls section Joanne Tey was the best in with a round of 38 off the stick. The handicap prize was awarded to Jacqueline Lee this afternoon following her round of 27 nett.

Well done to all of the winners!
